Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her professional name Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. On the 21st of October, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP on the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she gained her first the attention of her peers. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to upload her music via the internet, including her self release single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July the 21st of July, 2015. Later that year her music circulated throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. Then, in December of 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna had signed to Dreamville Records. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 2016 she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. In 2018, she appeared as a guest on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video to accompany it was also released on September 5th. In November, she dropped two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on November 13, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed together with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The song, launched with a music video on YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been viewed over three million times over the first seven days. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
